ABOUT THE BOOK

The work introduces students to the principles through which the Qur'an, Sunnah and legal texts are understood and applied in Islamic jurisprudence. Its discussions include important areas such as commands and prohibitions (Amr and Nahy), general and specific expressions ('Amm and Khass), explicit and implicit meanings, linguistic indications and abrogation (Naskh).

Through these discussions, students learn how jurists analyse textual evidence and how the principles of Usul al-Fiqh provide a structured methodology for deriving and understanding legal rulings.

Because of its concise and systematic presentation, Usul al-Shashi became an important teaching text and remains part of traditional Dars-e-Nizami and Hanafi Islamic studies curricula.
