Thalath Rasa'il fi 'Ilm Mustalah al-Hadith (ثلاث رسائل في علم مصطلح الحديث) is an important Arabic collection bringing together three classical treatises concerning Hadith methodology and the conditions employed by the leading compilers of Hadith.

The first is Imam Abu Dawud al-Sijistani's letter to the people of Makkah describing his Sunan, an important source for understanding Imam Abu Dawud's own methodology and approach in compiling Sunan Abi Dawud.

The second, Shurut al-A'immah al-Sittah, is by al-Hafiz Muhammad ibn Tahir al-Maqdisi and examines the conditions and methodologies associated with the six major Hadith compilers.

The third, Shurut al-A'immah al-Khamsah, by al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Musa al-Hazimi, discusses the methodology and conditions associated with five of the major Hadith Imams.

Shaykh Abd al-Fattah Abu Ghuddah brought these three closely related works together and enriched them with introductions and scholarly annotations. Understanding the conditions and methodologies of the Hadith compilers is particularly valuable for students working directly with the major Hadith collections.
