ABOUT THE BOOK

This is an Islamic scholarly study authored by Sheikh ʿAbd al-Fattāḥ Abū Ghadah that critically examines the traditional practice of beginning books and writings with the Khutbah. The author argues—using evidence from the Prophetic tradition, the practice of the Companions, the Tābiʿīn, and the transmission of scholarly practices—that the Khutbah al-Ḥājah is a prescribed sunnah for opening oral speeches, not a sunnah for beginning books and written works.
