ABOUT THE BOOK

I started teaching my son, Ahmad (may Allah preserve him), Moulana Mushtaq Ahmad Charthaloi’s famous book “Ilmun-Nahw”. Upon completing just the first chapter, I realised that this little boy was unable to grasp the subject matter. The reason for this is that the books of Nahw, which have been written in Urdu, generally do not teach the subject gradually, whereas this is absolutely necessary.

I had a look at Moulana Haafiz ‘Abdur-Rahman Saheb Amritsari’s “Kitaabun-Nahw” and found it to be even more difficult. To facilitate my son’s education, I compiled “Easy Syntax Part One” so that I can gradually introduce the subject to him.

In this booklet, I have endeavoured not to burden the minds of the young children with too much information at once, so that they don’t start thinking that Arabic Syntax (Nahw) is a difficult subject. Hence, I only mentioned the absolute essentials in each chapter of this booklet and I deferred the remaining information for part two.

I would also like to mention that one should not start teaching the children Arabic Syntax the moment they start learning the Arabic Language. One should start with Arabic readers like Minhajul-Arabiyyah parts one and two followed by Qasasun-Nabiyyyeen parts one and two. Thereafter, once the child is a little more familiar with Arabic, he should be taught “Easy Syntax, Part One” which consists of 33 lessons, in total.

It should not take more than two months to complete the booklet. The teachers should ensure that the students memorise the lessons properly and should only explain where necessary. The footnotes are for the teachers. When the students know this booklet well, let them start part two.
