ABOUT THE BOOK

This is a new work derived from the legacy of Shaykh al-Islam Taqī al-Dīn ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-Kāfī al-Subkī . It is a concise treatise on the explanation of subtle meanings, and it is a work on the tafsīr of Sūrat al-Qadr. Its original form was a lesson delivered by the Imam, which was later taken and transmitted by his son, Imam Tāj al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Subkī, who recorded it from his father during his teaching at Madresah al-Taqwiyyah in Damascus.

The editor relied on a single unique manuscript of this treatise, which had not been previously published until now. He carefully established its text, attributing it to its author, and provided annotations where needed, until the treatise appeared in its final form—refined in wording, clarified in meaning, and polished in structure.

The editor also devoted particular attention to clarifying its purpose, which revolves around explaining the appropriateness of standing in prayer on the Night of Qadr, as well as discussing related issues within the well-known juristic question concerning the legal ruling of specific acts of worship on that night, along with related scholarly discussions and subtle points.
