ABOUT THE BOOK
is a classical Islamic scholarly compilation focused on the issue of not raising the hands (rafʿ al-yadayn) at certain points during the Salah. Drawing upon a vast collection of hadiths, narrations, and classical juristic evidence, this book examines the evidence for and against raising the hands in prayer and addresses key debates that have arisen among different Islamic schools of thought.
Compiled by Abdul Ghaffar al-Dhahabi in a scholarly manner, the work brings together hundreds of narrations and contextual commentary, presenting comprehensive references to what the Companions, Tabi‘een, and early scholars practiced and taught regarding this issue.
The book not only surveys the textual evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah but also engages with the fiqh rulings and differing interpretations that have developed over time across various madhāhib. As such, it serves as an important resource for students, scholars, and anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the jurisprudential reasoning and historical context behind one of the nuanced aspects of prayer practice.
